Abdominal Liposuction : Tumescent Liposuction
Tumescent liposuction is a common technique of abdominal liposuction (the word tumescent means to become swollen). Abdominal Liposuction : Two Kinds of Abdominal Fat
The abdominal area contains two kinds of fat though only subcutaneous (under the skin) can be removed by liposuction. Intra-abdominal fat, which is not directly under the skin but inside the intestinal loops called mesentery, cannot be removed by abdominal liposuction due to where the fat compartments are situated.
This can easily be tested by yourself to see which type of fat you have. If the fat moves easily between your fingers and thumb, the probability is that it can be suctioned out as it is under the skin. You will need to consult a doctor for a full diagnosis.
Abdominal Liposuction : Recovery
Due to the local anesthetic used for the operation, patients are likely to be able to move around freely soon after. Exercise rather than minimal movement is recommended in order to recover quicker with better results.
Prescription drugs are not normally given however Tylenol with codeine can be used if the pain is unbearable but aspirin will normally be adequate for the patient.
There is usually a lot of tumescent drainage after the first twenty-four hours and will continue for the next forty-eight to seventy-two hours of abdominal liposuction.
